How does this letter-form communicate its location?

The word ‘Bletchley’ stands proud on this old railway station bench. The bench indicates the rich railway heritage of the local area, including Wolverton Railway Works. The bench has been relocated to MK Museum. It has been re-painted a colour somewhere between mauve and magenta pink with text picked out in white, but not with much precision! Each letter is screwed into the wooden plank of the bench. The typeface is all-caps, strong and clear, presumably helpful for reading at speed from a passing train. The same typeface is seen on similar benches from neighbouring stations.
