How does this letter-form communicate its location?
Hippodrome – The building itself is grade II listed by English Heritage and retains many of the original features also. The font style is similar to Art Deco type is immediately recognisable for its unique visual characteristics–its geometric rounded shapes combined with elongated letters and vertical decorative line details. Art Deco is probably one of the most recognisable art movements of the 20th century. The font is in glass and lead and almost ahead of it’s time in that it fits into the shape. It is backlight at night. This does not really date, but it is not light at the moment in the current time and has been shut for a year. Hope will these places survive in a similar way to the high street.
