How does this letter-form communicate its location?

A design competition was held in 1924 for the K2 red telephone box. It was won by architect, Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. The Post Office was in charge of the UK’s telephone network at the time and they decided to paint it red (Scott had requested silver). (Wikipedia, 2019) The font used for the word ‘Telephone’ is proving tricky to pinpoint. I’ve looked through McNeil’s The Visual History of Type (2017) and come to the conclusion that it could be modified letterforms based on Imprint by Monotype; which in turn was an altered old style of Caslon. ––– Mcneil, P. and Laurence King Publishing (2017).
