How does this letter-form communicate its location?
The signboard has three languages-Malayalam, Hindi and English. Most train stations in India follows the same format. The hand lettered letterforms are very calligraphic style and the design reminds me of London underground signage system(bulls eye). Guruvayur is a pilgrim place so many visitors come daily to visit the temple since the train station is near to the Famous Temple in Kerala, India. To restore the old style they follow the same lettering which is handcrafted. Actually I liked how they put 3 languages together, it surely communicates to all. The Hindi letters are written boldly in calligraphic style whereas both Malayalam and English written in medium thickness again in calligraphy style. The kerning between the letters is so tight to fit inside the signboard.
