How does this letter-form communicate its location?
A fallen gravestone with what appears to be metal lettering from 1908. This gravestone stands out in the Church of St Mary Magdalene graveyard due to its writing remaining very legible despite the effects of time and nature on the stone itself. It also references the local mining history by highlighting ‘Broomside Colliery’. The stone makes use of a gothic typeface in ‘In Loving Memory Of’ and a capitalised, simpler serif typeface for the other text.
