How does this letter-form communicate its location?
The type used on this Baptist Chapel uses a beautiful serif that stands tall with high loops on the P’s and B’s. It’s elegance of its beaces on the S and balanced weight echoes that of Didot from the 18th Century. Just like Didot, the style may be of old origin but it also feels modern. What is nice is how it is carved into the stone, and has kept an old approach to signage. Considering the church has been there since 1834, using old typface reflects it’s pride in it’s heritage. The fact it’s well kept too could be a means to stand amongst the 20 other churches in the town.
