How does this letter-form communicate its location?
The cathedral font verges between serif and sans-serif which has been interpreted from the work of Ralph Beyer. I wonder how he would have felt about a font being created from lettering that he felt had a need to be intrinsically individual and different - I don't know if I think he’d be too happy about it. However, evidently, this type now resonates with the overall appearance and branding of the cathedral, being formal enough but not without elements of humanity. It is far enough away from being Roman, yet still maintains a characteristic of history.
