How does this letter-form communicate its location?
With this sign, I am drawn to the two different versions of the word ‘amusements’ that can be found in this same position. It represents two different ‘eras’ – though both versions are in the same broad style, it indicates a renewed vigour for the appearance of the shop front – and a third era through the decay of both. The lettering is old-fashioned and seems to want to portray a sense of classiness and luxury – juxtaposed by its current state, which suggests being run-down and neglected.
