How does this letter-form communicate its location?

In 2018 Aylesbury town council decided to rejuvenate all of the road signs in the old town, in an attempt to reinforce our local heritage at the cost of £7,400. Before this revival the signs had become worn and were not cohesive with one another, which I guess added personality to the old town. However the typeface used on these replacement signs strengthens the historical value of the area. The serifs are thin as are the stems on the N and the A, adding a touch of elegance to the sign. It also uses small caps which is something I haven’t really noticed on a sign before; this has made the ‘Fee’ feel quite boxy and square. As like many of the signs I have found around Aylesbury the counter of the P is open, something I’d like to reiterate in my workshop challenge next week.
