How does this letter-form communicate its location?
This is the shop sign of an Indian Restaurant in Neuhausen. The display font looks like what I imagine Indian shop signs to look like. What is particularly interesting is that if one would not know, this restaurant could be situated anywhere else in the world but Munich. The typeface is unique and many of the letters are contrasting in themselves with very thin and very wide strokes. The design of the A is what makes the type look interesting. Putting this typographic restaurant logo in the context of Munich it clearly shows a very different side of the city: An international, open-minded and less traditional German side.
