How does this letter-form communicate its location?
This photo doesn’t do the sign much justice, this typography is large enough to be seen from your car on the road opposite. Located on one of the main entry routes into Lincoln, it acts as a waypoint for drivers and pedestrians, and a reminder of the proud university it rests on. The material looks to be metal, sitting out of the grey backdrop it gives an almost 3D effect. The university building in Lincoln was opened in 1996, so it’s interesting to see the more traditional Slab Serif font, like the library it pays homage to the past.
