How does this letter-form communicate its location?

In the centre of town are the decaying ruins of the old cattle market. As the main hub of South Somerset Yeovil was host to a twice weekly cattle market, which started 156 years before its closure in 2008. Most of the site is now derelict and awaiting regeneration, unaccessible and in a dangerously precarious state. Only a small section of the edge of the land is in use as a car park, and on the one small building left here sits this fantastic lettering, forgotten and decaying. I have no idea when it was created or added, but the serif style gives it an old, elegant feel. The effort in creating such lovely signage is a reflection of how important the market was to the town, not just in trade but also as entertainment.
