How does this letter-form communicate its location?
This is a selfie point at Marina Beach in my hometown, Chennai. The lettering says "Namma Chennai" which translates to "Our Chennai" in Tamil, the local language. This was built under the Smart City project and is 28 feet in width, 10 feet in height and has a thickness of 2 feet. Chennai is a tropical coastal city and this sign was built in such a way that it can withstand any cyclone. It weighs 2.5 tonnes and costed an estimated 22 lakhs to build this typographical piece of work. Currently, this iconic spot is closed for the next six years due to the construction of Metro rails.
