How does this letter-form communicate its location?
Lesser Market is an alleyway connecting two streets together at the top of the town - where a weekly market has been held since around 1086. The white lettering on the black background, along with the spacing between letters means the sign is easy to read. Unlike informatory signs seen today, a serif typeface has been used, which adds to the historical feeling. I like the slanted serifs the long bar on the āEā as I think they add character to the typeface.
