How does this letter-form communicate its location?
The Three Pigeons was an important nineteenth century coaching inn, and still has stables attached. It has been disused for several years. These 2 signs here are still hung on the derelict building and are showing signs of their history and the need for much love and attention. The sign on the right hangs above the front door of the old pub, you can just about make out the hand painted letters which have faded over time. The sign to the left is showing less deterioration due to its more sheltered location around the side of the building. This shows its own history by the red paint fading to reveal the original painting underneath. The style of lettering used is typical for Macclesfield. A capitalised font with serifs and the occasional embellishment to showcase the towns wealth.
