How does this letter-form communicate its location?

You haven’t been to Holywood until you’ve stopped in Ned’s. The real name is Maypole Bar, but no one calls it that. It’s the place where you know everyone, yet they all stare at you as you enter the door. Your drinks are served on a tray at your table, cash-only, and you’re not allowed to use your phone. Modernity is completely frowned upon in Ned’s. The  serif typeface with all-cap lettering and a drop shadow, painted directly on brick, is very typical of Northern Irish meeting places through history.
