How does this letter-form communicate its location?

I chose this sign and typography because I think that it represents English heritage really well and because it looks like a classic serif font that one would find all across the UK.  The postcode is written in a different font than the street name allowing for one to distinguish between the two as there is no differentiation of colour or application between the two. The letters are very prominent due to them most likely being painted onto the darker background of the navy tiles.
