How does this letter-form communicate its location?

The Penitentiary Chapel lettering is engraved in the top of the building, and the letters are round, bold and spaced apart. The position of the sign (right at the top under the roof) and the way the lettering has been engraved very much fits with the history of the building, which was a correctional facility for sex workers back in the 1800s. It looks firm and foreboding. Its position is in the artisanal Walcot Street area of Bath which has a rich history and was one of the main areas prostitution was sold in the city.
