How does this letter-form communicate its location?

Hardware engineering & manufacturing is a sunset industry in Singapore and whilst business has grown much quieter for them, pockets of these spaces left by chinese merchants are still around, sometimes operating as warehouse spaces. What this signage made me realise was that the others I’ve reviewed were all very much part of the architectural facade itself, created with concrete and steel materials, whilst this one was a signboard created with acrylic and installed within the sheltered walkway. Its roman english letterforms had a special quirk with some subtle tails added to an almost art-deco grotesk font.
