How does this letter-form communicate its location?

This sandstone paving slab is seen in a landscaped public garden. It is embossed with a gold painted motif inspired by work of Liberty & Co Artist and Designer Archibald Knox, who was born on the Island. This simplified Celtic design is a contemporary interpretation of his work, but also serves as a practical solution when embossed into the sone. The role of this slab, and others dotted through the paved walkway, is to commemorate Knox and his contribution to Manx art and culture. It is situated in the town centre opposite the towns Gaiety Theatre and Opera House.
