How does this letter-form communicate its location?

Gold leaf lettering on glass window. Would have been applied by a skilled sign writer where the gold would have glimmered in the sunshine across the bay all day, as its position is East facing. The lettering is in block capitals evenly spaced with a serif style. The serif flicks on the ends of each letter are not consistent, some are straight and some are subtly curved as you can see on the feet of the ‘A’. Today the hotel is disused and the unkept lettering reflects this. There are two juxtaposing stories to tell in this image; The hay-day of seaside holidays in the late 19th to mid 20th century these hotels would have been bustling with tourists, though in the Second World War all hotels along the prom were surrounded by barbed wire and turned into interment camps.
