How does this letter-form communicate its location?
Representative of Stroud’s shabby, mismatched appearance. This worn parking sign is partly eligible, sprayed by graffiti. It’s neglected which is perhaps how a newcomer might view the town. But perhaps this place is just unpretentious, leaving on show evidence of the town’s changing fortunes. The dried adhesive on the sign suggests it was once covered over, perhaps with a newer sign. It could also be seen as evocative of Stroud’s reliance on transportation which has always played a key role in it’s DNA. The mills relied on the canal to move textiles. The railway today is direct to London Paddington making the town popular with commuters, and major motorway links are just beyond the outskirts.
