How does this letter-form communicate its location?
Waltham Forest Council established Langthorne Park in 2000, and their sign's typography is interesting in that it's a nod to the historical typography of the area. The serif font with drop shadows was standard in the 19th century. Although they used ceramic tile and glass to create the mosaic, they managed to create a contemporary sign with historical connotations. I would go as far as to suggest this sign encapsulates the identity of this area of London. It combines contemporary materials and historical styles in one neat little package.
