How does this letter-form communicate its location?

I wanted to include this example of hand-stencilled typography. Pictured is a small section of a large wooden sign in the window of a Chinese takeaway. Although I'm unsure if the creator had used a stencil to create this, it still provides the aesthetic of stencilled lettering with the break in characters such as O and B. With gentrification, we see an influx of numerous cultures in big cities, and London is no different. This shift in demographic will continue to bring in new styles and techniques, and the development of new styles will continue as gentrification continues.
