How does this letter-form communicate its location?

The neon signage on the side of this downtown shop is one example of many neon signs dotted across the city. The store opened in 1925, with the Lazares sign affixed to the wall of the building in 1942 and added to the Windsor heritage register in 2015. Created in an art deco style, the sign is uniquely colourful during the day. Looking closely at the typeface used, you can see differences between some of the letters. There appear to be two different ‘R’s used and while the 'E's appear consistent in their design, there is some difference between the 'S's. The most obvious inconsistency can be seen in the letter 'A'. The combination of both rounded letterforms (evident in the 'M') and more angular (see letter 'Z') adds a sense of character that at a glance one would not notice.
