How does this letter-form communicate its location?
A street sign in USJ9. “Jalan” directly translates to “Walk” in Malay. In this context, it can mean “street/road” and “poskod” means “postcode”. USJ is an acronym for UEP Subang Jaya, as these residential areas were developed by Sime UEP Properties Berhad. Anywhere within Subang Jaya, you’ll come across street signs like this. Looking out for these would be easy, way-finding becomes easy when going to someone’s house for the first time. It’s a clear sign, yet in practicality, it’s a bit hard to see during the night time due to the small size of the font. Yet, when you’re coming home from a long day, seeing that sign before you turn into your street makes you feel at home already.
