How does this letter-form communicate its location?

The typography shown here is a clear departure from the historical examples in Shrewsbury. Its contemporary nature is almost stark against the masonry shown elsewhere and seems to represent a modernisation of sorts to the town centre. The typeface provides a simple contrast to the business name, that references the more traditional names for pubs, bridging the past with the present. Notably, the use of all lowercase sans serif lettering is specifically not a traditional example within the town and has appeared more so over the last decade, as the council began to welcome new business seeking a younger demographic.
