How does this letter-form communicate its location?
An example of local artisanal work, this was commissioned by the owner of the cabin where we stayed for a few weeks. As the entire piece is made out of wood, I found the imperfections of it all quite interesting. The font again, is a serif font and looks a bit older. Because of the placement, the letters themselves were made rather tall and narrow, to fit on this board. I particularly appreciate the differentiation between the serifs on the “M” and “W”. One can also see that the spacing, particularly on “M” and “W” from the middle parts and the edges are slightly different. It was not a trick of the camera, they were made like that which is an interesting choice. Almost perfectly imperfect
