How does this letter-form communicate its location?
This type design is located at 2, 3 Pearse Square, Kilgarvan, Cobh, Co. Cork. It is a board outside the pub which advertises the pub. The type is created by painting the letters onto the board with a ship painted under the name. This name has 3 different fonts in it. The words “ROB RAY” and “IRISH” also look like the Times New Roman font. The word “Pub” looks like a script font, so the use of the different typefaces shows how Cobh is a creative place. The town is painted colorfully with houses painted in vibrant colors, making it look vibrant alive and this is also reflected in the type design that businesses use to advertise their work.
