How does this letter-form communicate its location?
Drayman’s Brewery, located in Silverton, Pretoria, is, much like a lot of buildings in that area, a business. Set in Silverton’s old industrial area, the brewery was established in 1997, and their logo, which is written in hand-painted, serif type, reflects that era. While the logo is by no means modern, the serif typeface gives it a bit of flair that establishes the brand as being unique, more fun and laid-back than rigid and professional. Personally I think using a serif typeface for their logo makes them seem antiquated and removed from modern brewery practices, but perhaps that fits in with Silverton’s rather vintage look.
