How does this letter-form communicate its location?
Similar to ‘Park End’ this is a ghost sign, but I reacted to these more than anything else when out taking pictures, I love the window they give you into the history of where you’re stood, as well as somehow working with the current Oxford, which still uses little colour, simple lettering and Old-English in their type. Oxford’s history is really important to the locals and interesting to the tourists - I.E. Americans coming over and seeing buildings older than their entire country as they know it. These ghost signs and in keeping letterforms create a beautiful bubble that is classically ‘Oxford’ as it’s known to be.
