How does this letter-form communicate its location?

Kingsgate Wines This image was taken from inside a wine and grocery shop that is near the Cathedral and College of Winchester. This area is away from the main high street and is much quieter. It is surrounded by a pub, bookshop and stationers and the area has a real small town or village feel about it. Again, a lot of history in the surrounding streets. The shop has a very simple front but this list of items on the inside right window, gives you all the information you need to let you know what the shop sells. It looks like it has been hand-painted and hand rendered – not quite exact and you can see some pencil marks behind the paint but what I love is that this may have been a way that shop owners advertised their goods in the past and this is a nice little tribute to that.
