How does this letter-form communicate its location?
These signs always make you feel like you're in a place worth exploring, thinking of examples like Lands End, they give this cute feel of a picturesque town or village with quant things to see and do. The industrial metal with the old-English type gives a classic 'old school' station feel and it works perfectly to be in keeping with smaller towns and villages which are considered more market town, having butchers and fishmongers instead of a Sainsbury's. Reflecting the preservation of thatch roofs and bay windows it's perfectly complimenting, compared to modern road-like signs for tourist attractions and directions.
