How does this letter-form communicate its location?

When looking at the typefaces of the pubs and bars around the university, it was interesting to see how different the typography was to pubs that were right next to each other. Quids Inn and Whitefriars are next to each other on the same street, but each gives off a different identity, and never look like they are imitating one another. The simple type of ‘Quids Inn’ gives off a student vibe, and all the bright coloured banners around it make sure to tell you that it’s a cheap student bar. The yellow type on the black background also gets the attention. I saw that they allow entrance until 3am, open until 5am, and so the type used gives off the idea that they aren’t trying to target an older market, but the students who want to stay out late. Whitefriars on the other hand uses a more traditional typeface, and its old exterior shows it as a more laid back pub.
