How does this letter-form communicate its location?

The Komedia sign is just what I’d expect for an entertainment venue specialising in comedy and cabaret. The bright neon light stands out in the dark, which is helpful in its location – a side street which isn’t well lit but runs off a busier square. The way the letters have been placed vertically rather than horizontally seems indicative of this type of entertainment venue. The lettering has been made to look 3d with 2 layers of neon piping which adds character, and even the sign it has been placed on has detailed edges.
